Grading: Thai Silk

Thai silks Flowerhorn:
Introductions:
  • Thai Silk Flowerhorns are also known as Titanium Flowerhorns due to their metallic scales covering their whole body.
  • So by my experience and observation most silks colour is gained through thick armour pearling, as they grow older it can thicken or drop out revealing a red or yellow base depending on the gene make up.
  • if correctly line bred this pearling will be solid from fry to adult without splits but in Australia I haven’t seen this since Dens silks 5-6yrs ago
Colour:
  • Colour wise These are typically a light blue in colour but can also appear in white metallic morphs.

Body:

  • They can have a longer, more square body shape like a Kamfa, or they can be more zz shaped depending on the gene base .... the kamfa shape is usually the most seen and more desirable.
Eyes:
  • Eyes can be white, yellow, and red.
This strain is speculated to have many species mixed into it But we aren’t 100% sure what the definite ones are but it’s believed.
Orgins:
  • Texas
  • Zz Flowerhorn
  • Veija
  • Regani
  • Zonatus
  • (These are the main guesses due to highly blue gene colouration) {Veija been mixed in consistently gives that bigger squarer body shape}
Care:
  • The only difference I can honestly say to any other Flowerhorns care is their diet.... cause the colour is mainly pearl based u wanna stay away from astaxanthin based foods as this is used to increase reds and yellow like colours (if u have a armour pearl that shows reds, embrace it and feed the astaxantin, u can’t change genetics)
Diet:
  • Feed a staple diet pellet (I use hikari gold/bio gold) this covers there main diet needs and to increase shine/pearl feed a Spirulina rich pellet (usually found in koi food), if u still want to feed high protein pellets.
(Just remember a varied diet is always better don’t feed same thing every day
As for base/background colours blue is the usual go to colour I honestly think the darker blue contrast the silks a lot better and makes them pop that bit more)
